The removable disk tray is more for convenience (they make it easy to slide the hard drive in and out of the computer and can even be locked incase you are worried about any kind of theft) and the hard drive will need to be one that is best fitting for your needs.

When you get home with your new box of goodies, it is time to perform the simple operation. First, you will want to turn off your computer, in the safe mode. Then, it will be time to open the hard shell of the computer’s tower. (Most are attached with an easy to remove knob. Remove the knob and slide the loose compartment off.) Install your new drive according to the instructions. Once you have it installed, just put the hard shell back on and restart the computer. You will want to transfer the data from your old hard drive to the new and not the other way around. If you do not, you will erase the material you are trying to save!

You can also install some programs to help back up your data. You can use Image software, which basically creates a kind of photocopy of your data. You cannot re boot your computer with this kind of software. You can only use it once the computer is up and running. The other program is a Clone. This is just what it says. It is an exact copy of all of your important data. You can use this to boot up your personal computer.

It is very easy to upgrade to a second hard drive so that you can back up your hard drive. It is a very simple task to undertake and is an easy way to tune up your personal computer. Backing up your data onto another hard drive will not only give you peace of mind, it will also help to increase memory space and the speed of the computer’s performance.
